1992 was my final year of school. Living in Durban but attending school on the North Coast meant that I traveled over 80km’s everyday to school and back, always passing this derelict old beach house. The stretch of coast that this building finds itself on is as beautiful as its real-estate is contrasting. Pimped-up modern mansions are neighbored by derelict old beach houses serving as nothing more than canvas for aspiring graffiti artists and dwellings for vagrants. This is one of them. It’s a landmark- has been for decades. I’ve always wanted to photograph it. I just had to wait 20 years to get a camera.
North Coast Beach House.
